COLOURS IN BRAILLE
A poetry project I took part in in 2017 was writing six poems that were commissioned by Rebeka Markovich (@becky) for her graphic design project: a colour book for the visually impaired. She asked me to create poetry based on six colours. The book was hand-stitched, paired with her designs, and the poetry was printed in braille alongside the text. The premise was that texture of colours can be felt and listened to as much as seen, and so I began writing the colours; a meditation on the synesthetic qualities to colours - their associations, traits, nuances, and flavours. Her designs are only available in the book, but some of my accompanying text can be read below:
